Who should receive the anointing of the sick:
It is appropriate that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick be celebrated during the Parish Liturgy so that family, friends, and fellow parishioners might join in prayer for those being anointed.
Following the homily, the priest will invite all present to join in prayer for those being anointed, asking for the healing touch of the Lord. The priests will first lay hands on the heads of those receiving the Sacrament, praying for the coming of the Holy Spirit and then, after the blessing of the oil, will anoint each with oil first on the forehead and then on the palms of the hands while praying:
“Through this holy anointing, may the Lord, in His love and mercy, help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit.”
Response: Amen.
The Lord who frees you from sin, save you and raise you up.”
Response: Amen.
Those being anointed are asked to sit toward the end of any pew.
Please contact the parish office for more information about receiving grace and strength from the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick- one of the Church's sacraments of healing.
