Catechism of the Catholic Church #1213
The birth of your child is such a gift! For a child to receive Baptism, one parent must be a practicing Catholic, regularly attending Sunday Mass, and be registered at Our Lady of Mercy for three months prior to requesting the date of baptism.
Preparation for the baptism of infants can begin during pregnancy. Preparation classes are given on an individual basis or in groups depending on the number requesting baptism for their child. Godparents are welcome to attend a Baptismal Preparation class as well. Since godparents promise to help raise your child in the practice of the Catholic faith, godparents complete a their form at the parish where they attend weekly Sunday Mass.
