Our Lady of Mercy’s relationship with the village of Milot began with volunteer work at Milot’s Hôpital Sacré Coeur. During the early years of the connection, Mercy members of the Order of Malta helped as medical personnel to aid the medical staff at the hospital. In the years following, Msgrs. John Enzler and Bill English made visits to Haiti to see the needs of the nearby Immaculate Conception parish. The pastor at the time, Pere Tijwa, felt that the most pressing need at the time was a parish center building. In response, the parishes of OLOM, Most Blessed Sacrament, and Little Flower raised funds for the building. Several rooms within the center became the primary school, College Marie Immaculee.

Since then, OLOM has raised money to help Sister Ann Crawley, a Sister of St. Joseph of Peace, to minister to both the children of the school and the villagers of Milot.
